WASHINGTON (NNS) -- An active shooter was reported inside the Naval Sea Systems Command Headquarters building (Bldg. 197) on the Washington Navy Yard at 8:20 a.m. (Eastern Time).

There is one confirmed injury. Emergency personnel are on scene and a "shelter in place" order has been issued for Navy Yard personnel.

The Naval Sea Systems Command's headquarters is the work place for about 3,000 people.

The organization is comprised of command staff, headquarters directorates, affiliated Program Executive Offices (PEOs) and numerous field activities. Russia Increases Naval Armada To 10 Battleships Off Syrian Coast In Mediterranean Sea ~> Full Video Report

Russia's "carrier killer" The Moskva has arrived off Syria, is in command of all Russian Naval ships.

The Russian Navy intends to build its presence in the Mediterranean Sea - particularly in the area close to Syrian shores - to up to 10 battleships, announced Admiral of the Fleet Viktor Chirkov.

“The task is crystal clear: to avoid a slightest threat to the security of the state. This is a general practice of all fleets around the world, to be there when a tension level increases. They are all going to act on operational command plan of the offshore maritime zone,” Chirkov told journalists on Friday. "Russia will be building up its Mediterranean fleet until it is deemed sufficient to perform the task set."

Russia began military build-up in the Mediterranean in 2012, and starting from December last year the Navy established a constant presence in the eastern part of the Mediterranean Sea.

On May 1, 2013 all Russian battleships operating in the area were assigned to a single task force under special offshore maritime zone operation command.

Currently there are seven warships deployed in the area: landing craft carriers 'Aleksandr Shabalin’, ‘Admiral Nevelskoy’, ‘Peresvet’, ‘Novocherkassk’ and ‘Minsk’ from Russia’s Black and Baltic Sea Fleets, as well as the escort vessel ‘Neustrashimy’, and large anti-submarine ship ‘Admiral Panteleyev’.
According to previous reports, the missile-carrying cruiser ‘Moskva’ passed the Straits of Gibraltar on September 10 and is expected to arrive at its final destination in eastern Mediterranean on September 15 or 16. 

Two battleships of the Russia’s Black Fleet, guided missile destroyer ‘Smetlivy’ and landing craft carrier ‘Nikolay Filchenkov’ left their bases in Sevastopol and Novorossiysk respectively and early on Friday morning have passed the Bosphorus Strait, heading to the eastern Mediterranean.
The SSV-201 reconnaissance ship ‘Priazovye’ also reportedly joined the group in the Eastern Mediterranean in early September. 
Upon the arrival of the ‘Moskva’, its commander, Sergey Tronev, will assume operative command of the task force.

The Yakhont is a supersonic anti-ship missile capable of attacking maritime targets at great distances from shore (up to 180 miles). Unlike other coastal defense systems, like the Chinese C-802 or C-701, the SS-N-26 ‘Yakhont’ can engage targets well beyond the horizon, by navigating the long mid-course ‘leg’ using inertial guidance. the high speed means the missile would acquire lower drift, relative to a subsonic missile.

At a certain distance from the target the missile will activate its radar to acquire the target, it will then perform the terminal attack maneuver, according to the preplanned attack profile selected before launch – a direct horizontal attack or high angle dive, both are performed at extremely high speed, challenging the targets’ missile defenses and electronic countermeasures.

Multiple attacks of several missiles, attacking at different profiles, would challenge the target even more, as will a coordinated attack by high-speed and cruise type missiles.

Cooking star Paula Deen fought back tears Saturday as she was greeted by cheers and a standing ovation from a crowd of about 1,500 during her appearance at the Metropolitan Cooking & Entertaining Show at Reliant Center.

It was Deen's first public appearance since late June, when news broke that she had used a racial slur.

"These are tears of joy, y'all," Deen told the audience. "I've said all along that the one place I'd want to make my first step back out is Texas. Y'all's hearts are as big as your state."

She admitted using a derogatory racial term in a deposition May 17, bringing a storm of negative publicity that cost Deen her cooking show on Food Network, a cookbook deal and endorsements worth millions of dollars. Last month, a federal judge in Georgia threw out a sexual harassment and racial discrimination lawsuit against Deen, but the damage was done when major companies such as Target, Sears, Walmart, Home Depot, Kmart and JCPenney severed ties with her.

Houston resident Sherry Carter and her daughters, Shana Randle and Michelle Sanders, who were among a few African-American fans in the audience Saturday, said the allegations hadn't turned them against Deen.

"When I first heard about it, my feeling was, she got caught," Carter said. "Just about everyone I know has used the word. At least she was honest about it."

Four friends from the Fulshear-Richmond area wore sashes and carried placards with Deen's photo to show their support.

Democratic Senator Diane Feinstein insisted on liming protections for a new “media shield” law to “real reporters” and not that of a hypothetical 17-year old with his or her own website.

“I can’t support it if everyone who has a blog has a special privilege … or if Edward Snowden were to sit down and write this stuff, he would have a privilege. I’m not going to go there,” she reportedly said.

Drudge, publisher of the popular Drudge Report, turned to his personal twitter account to vocally express his opposition to the bill.

The “media shield” legislation that cleared a Senate panel on Friday reportedly defines a “covered journalist” as someone who reports for “an entity or service that disseminates news and information.” It reportedly covers freelancers, part-timers, and student journalists.

A 13-month old girl died after her mother’s boyfriend punched the toddler in the stomach because he lost patience with her, police say.

19-year old David Brown-Barrett of Hartford, Conn., is in jail on $1 million bond and faces charges of first-degree assault and risk of injury to a minor in the death of Ty’asia Allen.

Outside the courthouse family members of the suspect had to be separated by court officers from relatives of the toddler victim, WTNH-TV reports.

“We’re talking about a baby that can’t defend herself, a child that just learned how to walk and turned one year old two weeks ago, come on now, whose going to defend her,” said Gwen Morgin, a friend of the mother’s family.

Brown-Barrett is the boyfriend of the baby’s mother, although he is not the father of the toddler victim, WTNH reports.

No emergency call was made alerting police about the child’s condition Thursday. Instead the Allen was reportedly driven to the hospital in a flagged-down car, WTNH says, and went into cardiac arrest and died a short time later at the hospital.

“Ask them why they didn’t call 911, ask them why they flagged down a car to take her to the emergency room, she could have got help on the spot,” said Crystal Faust, the baby’s grandmother.

Hartford police say they were told by the medical staff that Allen’s injuries were consistent with trauma, possibly caused by a fist, WTNH says, adding that Brown-Barrett later admitted to them that he punched Allen in the stomach because he lost patience with her.

A Florida ministry that feeds the poor said a state agriculture department official told them they would not be allowed to receive USDA food unless they removed portraits of Christ, the Ten Commandments, a banner that read “Jesus is Lord” and stopping giving Bibles to the needy.

“They told us they could no longer allow us to have any religious information where the USDA food is going to be,” said Kay Daly, executive director of the Christian Service Center.

So why did the government have an issue with the religious group’s religious decorations?
A spokesperson for the Florida Department of Agriculture told me they were following the guidelines written by the USDA.

“This program is a USDA-funded program and the requirements were outlined by the USDA,” spokesperson Amanda Bevis said. “This agency administers the program on the state level. Our staff did provide a briefing to CSC following turnover in leadership at CSC and did review the USDA requirements.”

With Obamacare’s massive Patient Data Hub poised to open soon, a sloppy mistake by an Obamacare employee hasn’t exactly inspired confidence that Americans’ private information will be closely guarded by Obamacare’s powers-that-be. As the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports (and Andrew Johnson highlights at NRO), an Obamacare exchange employee in Minnesota accidentally sent out an email containing 2,400 Americans’ Social Security numbers. 

“A MNsure employee accidentally sent an e-mail file to an Apple Valley insurance broker’s office on Thursday that contained Social Security numbers, names, business addresses and other identifying information on more than 2,400 insurance agents.

“An official at MNsure, the state’s new online health insurance exchange, acknowledged it had mishandled private data. A MNsure security manager called the broker, Jim Koester, and walked him and his assistant through a process of deleting the file from their computer hard drives.

“Koester said he willingly complied, but was unnerved.

“‘The more I thought about it, the more troubled I was,’ he said. ‘What if this had fallen into the wrong hands? It’s scary. If this is happening now, how can clients of MN. be confident their data is safe?’”

Grim footage depicting a litany of crimes – murders, torture and mass killings – now emerge on YouTube on an almost daily basis from the Syrian civil war. Their authenticity is often impossible to verify, but these pictures, first published in the French magazine Paris Match, were taken by an independent photojournalist whose name, for his own safety, has not been publicly revealed.

His photographs graphically illustrate the callous barbarism of al-Qaeda-linked rebels that have now grown dominant in large parts of northern Syria. In many districts of Aleppo, historically a place of learning and trade, hardline Sharia or religious Islamic courts dictate the law of the land.

Al-Qaeda’s interpretation of Sharia has dragged parts of Syria back to a medieval age, where sentences for crimes and misdemeanours range from public floggings to execution by beheading.

 Why is Saudi Arabia spending huge amounts of money to help the rebels and why has Saudi Prince Bandar bin Sultan been "jetting from covert command centers near the Syrian front lines to the Élysée Palace in Paris and the Kremlin in Moscow, seeking to undermine the Assad regime"? Well, it turns out that Saudi Arabia intends to install their own puppet government in Syria which will allow the Saudis to control the flow of energy through the region. On the other side, Russia very much prefers the Assad regime for a whole bunch of reasons. One of those reasons is that Assad is helping to block the flow of natural gas out of the Persian Gulf into Europe, thus ensuring higher profits for Gazprom. 

Now the United States is getting directly involved in the conflict. If the U.S. is successful in getting rid of the Assad regime, it will be good for either the Saudis or Qatar (and possibly for both), and it will be really bad for Russia. This is a strategic geopolitical conflict about natural resources, religion and money, and it really has nothing to do with chemical weapons at all.

That's down from 51 percent in January, CNN reports. Some congressional Republicans, with support from some tea party and other conservative groups, are using upcoming budget battle as leverage. They are vowing to oppose any measure that funds Obamacare.

A Syrian rebel leader claims that the Assad regime has transferred chemical weapons to the Lebanese Shiite terrorist group Hezbollah amid talks to ensure the transfer of Syria’s WMDs to international authorities for destruction.

According to a report Friday in Saudi Arabia’s al-Watan newspaper, Syrian National Coalition member Kamal al-Labwani said the rebels obtained documents and testimony from a defector from one of the Syrian government’s chemical weapons research centers that indicate Syrian President Bashar Assad transferred roughly one metric ton of VX nerve gas to its ally, Hezbollah.

Al-Labwani told al-Watan that he forwarded documentary proof of his claim to the US Embassy in Jordan and British intelligence in Doha. The al-Watan report could not be independently confirmed.

Israel has repeatedly vowed to prevent Hezbollah’s acquisition of sophisticated weaponry, including chemical weapons. In January, Israeli fighter jets carried out an airstrike near a chemical weapons facility outside Damascus. US officials said the Israelis struck the military research center and a convoy next to it, which was carrying anti-aircraft weapons destined for the Islamic militant group Hezbollah in Lebanon.

There was no indication in the report as to when the Assad regime transferred the chemical agent to the Lebanese terrorist group, but a CNN report published on Thursday quoted Free Syrian Army leader Salim Idriss claiming that the Syrian government had begun moving its chemical weapons stockpiles to Lebanon and Iraq.

Baghdad rejected Idris’s claim, and Israeli officials who spoke to the news outlet said they had no indication that Assad had moved the WMDs to Lebanon or Iraq.

The al-Watan report also emerged at the same time as the Syrian military unit running Assad’s chemical weapons program reportedly began scattering the regime’s stockpiles to as many as 50 sites across the country to confound American efforts to track them, the Wall Street Journal cited “American and Middle Eastern officials” as saying.

Not long ago, President Bashar al-Assad of Syria seemed a remote and embattled figure, with the United States threatening airstrikes and other Arab leaders denouncing him for having used chemical weapons against his own people.

Yet in recent days, he appears, paradoxically, to have turned the crisis to his advantage, making clear to a global television audience that he aims to use President Obama’s own “red line” against him.

In exchange for relinquishing his chemical arsenal, Mr. Assad said Thursday, he will require that the United States stop arming the Syrian opposition — a demand that might seem wishful from the leader of a devastated country where civil war has left 100,000 dead, two million living as refugees and large swaths of territory beyond his control.

Mr. Assad outlined his demands on Thursday, telling a Russian TV interviewer that the arms-control proposal floated by his patron in Moscow would not be finalized until “we see the United States really wants stability in our region and stops threatening, striving to attack and also ceases arms deliveries to terrorists.”

Secretary of State John Kerry delivered a blunt response to Mr. Assad’s comments after meeting Thursday with Russia’s foreign minister, Sergey V. Lavrov, saying the standard procedures for identifying and securing the weapons were too slow in Syria’s case. “There is nothing standard about this process,” Mr. Kerry said. “The words of the Syrian regime, in our judgment, are simply not enough.”

Mr. Assad, sounding relaxed and confident, hinted in his interview that the Russian proposal — which requires Syria to sign the Chemical Weapons Convention — could become a lever for endless negotiations and delays, much as Saddam Hussein delayed arms control inspectors during the 1990s. “It doesn’t mean that Syria will sign the documents, fulfill the obligations, and that’s it,” Mr. Assad said.

The state-owned Syrian newspaper Al Watan put it bluntly in a headline on Thursday: “Moscow and Damascus pull the rug out from under the feet of Obama.”

Russia's "Carrier Killer" Cruiser The Moskva Arrives In Mediterranean ~> Assumes Command of Naval Forces ~> Full Report

There is only one reason to deploy the Moskva, it was built for one purpose. This ain't over folks, not by a long shot.

Russia’s Moskva missile cruiser, dubbed a “carrier-killer” by NATO, has passed through the Straits of Gibraltar and is now heading toward the eastern Mediterranean to assume command of the Russian naval force there.

The Russian Navy said in a statement that the Moskva cruiser passed through the Straits of Gibraltar on September 10.

Interfax news agency added that the Moskva cruiser, “commanded by Sergey Tronev, Captain 1st Rank of the Guards… has enough room for maneuver now.” 

“The Black Sea flagship entered the Russian Navy's area of responsibility in the Mediterranean at 11:00 pm Moscow time yesterday," the agency reported a military source as saying.

The missile-carrying cruiser is expected to join its final destination in eastern Mediterranean on September 15 or 16.

Upon arrival, the command of the Russian Navy unit in the Mediterranean, currently stationed onboard the Admiral Panteleyev anti-submarine ship, will be relocated to the Moskva.

"The armaments and technical equipment of the missile cruiser are in working condition. The crew is ready to perform combat missions,” the source said.

The missile cruiser, initially known to Western naval intelligence as “Slava” (Glory), was launched in 1979 and entered service in 1983. It was later renamed the “Moskva” in 1995. Designed to be carrier-killers, the cruisers of Class 1164 are equipped with 16 anti-ship launchers P-1000 Vulkan, or Volcano (SS-N-12 Sandbox anti-ship missiles, according to NATO classification).

Another two vessels, the landing ship Nikolay Filchenkov and the guard ship Smetlivy, will join the Russian naval unit later. They will be pass through the Bosporus and Dardanelles straits by September 12-14 and will then head to the eastern Mediterranean.

Ten-year-old Erin Shead had a class assignment to write about her idol. She picked God. Most people would say the Lord is a wonderful choice, but not her teacher.

According to her mom Erica:

“It was so cute and innocent. She talked about how God created the earth and how she’s doing the best she can,” said Shead. Mom said daughter Erin was told she can’t use God as an idol for the assignment, the teacher told her to start over and pick a different idol.

“But my teacher said I couldn’t write about God. She said It has something to do with God and God can’t be my idol,” said Shead about what her daughter told her. Erin told her mother she was also not allowed to leave the assignment about God at school, that it must go home.

On the second try, Erin chose Michael Jackson, which was acceptable.

Just to summarize for a moment; the teacher said that the creator of the universe, Lord, God himself could not be used as an idol but an accused pedophile who died of a drug overdose was a good choice? Please someone tell me what I am missing?

According to the School district teachers can’t promote religion, but there is no policy preventing students from writing assignments about any God or religion (thank God for small favors).

What does he see? What does he want?

We think everyone knows by now, but in case you missed it, the President of Russia Vladimir Putin has spoken directly to the American people. He choose the New York Times to write an "OP-ED" regarding Syria, the United Nations, Islamic terrorists, and relations with Obama and America. Barracuda Brigade felt a need to respond.

Dear President Putin,

Often in today's world reaction without thought is commonplace. Barracuda Brigade diligently avoids this trap in all we do. We've sat back and thought about what you said and how bizarre this all really is. Please let us know in the comment section if you agree or disagree with the following.

America and the world as a whole finds itself in uncharted waters. America has always been a strong and convicted nation. A nation where allies could depend on us and enemies feared us. During our history we've had lapses, but never the total collapse that our "Community Organizer" has brought. 

President Obama in every decision he makes either foreign or domestic always places himself and by extension America, exactly opposite of where America should stand and has always stood. We've seen this from Egypt to Benghazi, IRS, NSA, even Obama-Care. Objectively, this cannot be explained away as "poor advising" or an "over zealous" political agenda; it's far beyond that.

America's greatest leaders have all shared the following traits: conviction, determination, resolve, self confidence, humility, fearlessness and compassion. They all believed deeply in their hearts, America is a gift from God. That honorable men designed a Republic guided by a gracious and forgiving God. That our Republic was never built to dominate or control the world. Yet somehow it could serve as a balance for good, in a world where darkness and evil never sleep.

Mr. Putin, we know you keep abreast of "American politics." We openly acknowledge when it comes to the leadership of a nation, yourself and Israel's Prime Minister "Bibi" are the only adults in the room. Obama, Cameron, and Hollande are the 4th grade class clowns placed in a corner, plotting to "take away the teacher's desk." 

American's have this built-in sense of self-destiny. We're not found of being controlled by or dictated to by foreign bodies such as the United Nations. As you said, the "League of Nations" lead by Chamberlain was a total joke. Hitler knew it, he played it for all it was worth. Russia, Britain, Europe and eventually America paid ever so dearly for it. We stood together then to face a global threat, today we face another.

Barracuda Brigade agrees and has openly stated that Obama's arming of the Rebels in Syria, which in fact means America is allying with and fighting for Al-Qaeda and the Muslim Brotherhood is Treason of the highest order.

"We the People" will never support being allies to these "rabid animals." Yet here we are, thanks to our community organizer. I'm sure you're well aware of what he did to Qaddafi, Mubarak, and the people of both Libya and Egypt. Not to mention the disaster he's caused within the United States.

We both know Obama has unleashed a Sunni caliphate on the Middle-East, Europe, Russia and America. That Syria is next. It's why for nearly four years Obama has fed weapons, training and personnel via Libya, Benghazi, Turkey, Egypt and Jordan into Syria. 

It's why four very brave American's were left to die, all aid denied by the POTUS. All the while he and Hillary plan to blame a You-Tube video as he's preparing his next campaign speech in Vegas.

Hillary and Barack "met" the bodies five days later with the grieving families. They both directly told those grieving families, "we're gonna get that video maker." How sick and cold do you have to be to do this to grieving families? Barracuda Brigade firmly believes neither you nor Bibi would ever consider doing such a thing. Little lone actually doing it. Guess the caliphate knows no boundaries.

Your warning about the Rebels hitting Israel with chemical weapons checks with things we've seen and heard. We pray you and Bibi have discussed this and have some contingency on how to handle such an event, God forbid it happens.

The American people have long ago recognized Obama for who and what he is. We've totally given up trying to work with or really even talk to him. There is simply no point to it anymore. We're willing to communicate with you and Bibi in some avenue, be it periodicals, blogs or however. We ask the following of you President Putin:

1. Use all means available to kill every Syrian/Al-Qaeda Rebel. These rabid animals must be killed with all haste and prejudice.

2. Do nothing to escalate the tensions between Iran and Israel. You and Bibi are the two adults in the room, find a way.

3. Granted, Obama's desire and affection for Syria has nothing to do with chemical weapons, allow the UN Resolution through. Modify your position to this: America and all allies withdraw their military ships from the Syrian coast to a neutral and non-threatening position. Conversely, withdraw Russian ships that have been deployed due to this mess.

4. Help Assad secure his stockpiles of Chemical and Biological weapons. Worse possible development, Al-Qaeda and the Brotherhood get a hold of them. 

5. Give Israel any and all intelligence regarding the possible Rebel use of WMD's against them. You and Bibi will know how to proceed.

6. America's citizens nor the world's actually believe Assad will give up all he has. Truth is, nobody even knows what he has. Make a token gesture, throw the 4th graders a bone.

In conclusion Mr. Putin, America is suspicious of your motives. As you stated, there is a history. However, Obama has lead the world into such an upside down mess that extreme times call for out of the box thinking and actions. The world is counting on you and Bibi. We'd like our children and their children to actually have a future. We believe you feel the same. We know Bibi does.

We share the same enemies as you, Al-Qaeda, the Muslim Brotherhood and all Islamic terrorists wherever they exist. 

Iran's pursuit of nuclear weapons makes them a threat to America and Israel. Our love and commitment to Israel and Her people, it's a "Don't Tread On Me" affection. The Iranian condition can be upgraded if the nuclear weapons issue can with verification, not as a token matter; be resolved. That means no nukes in Iran, period. Iran with nukes is not just Bibi's red line, it's America's citizens.

Remember when President Obama promised us, “If you like your current health care plan, you can keep your plan?” That was not true, and his deceptive claim falls in line with all the other lies about Obamacare – like there’d be no health care rationing.

Anyone with an ounce of common sense can understand that if it is cheaper for a company to cancel employees’ health benefits and pay the $2,000 Obamacare fine instead of providing, say, a $10,000 government mandated employee health care plan, then of course that company will choose to pay the much smaller fine.

And if companies don’t have to provide government mandated health care for part time employees, then of course that’s an incentive for them to cut back employees’ hours and make their workforce part time.

This isn’t rocket science. This is Economics 101. And it’s happening right now at companies all over the country.

We saw this coming, and now even President Obama’s union leader friends have finally 'fessed up to Obamacare lies. These union leaders betrayed their own membership by enthusiastically endorsing Obamacare, and now our good union brothers and sisters are at risk of losing the benefits they’ve worked for and counted on their whole lives. Union bosses, you owe your membership an apology, retraction, and resignation.

Union leaders are now scrambling and trying to get special carve-outs exclusively for union members. I sympathize with union members – especially when they’re led by thugs. I always do. But this is the wrong way to go about fixing the enormous train wreck that is Obamacare. More cronyism, select exemptions, and special subsidies make the problem worse.

We need to repeal the whole darn thing, and that starts with defunding it. 

Union brothers and sisters, don’t let your incompetent leadership hoodwink you again. Demand a full repeal, an immediate defunding, and some resignations.

Hostages Kidnapped By Syrian Rebels Overheard Conversation ~> Government Didn't Do Chemical Attack ~> Rebels Did

Two Europeans who were allegedly abducted and held hostage for several months in Syria claim they overheard a conversation between their captors suggesting the Syrian rebels were behind the deadly chemical attack in Damascus. The men were released on Sunday.

Belgian teacher Pierre Piccinin and Italian journalist Domenico Quiric both say they were able to eavesdrop on an English-language Skype session between their abductors in which they allegedly revealed that it was the Syrian rebels who perpetrated the attack so that the West would intervene.

“In this conversation, they said that the gas attack on two neighborhoods of Damascus was launched by the rebels as a provocation to lead the West to intervene militarily,” Quirico told the Italian daily newspaper La Stampa. “We were unaware of everything that was going on during our detention in Syria, and therefore also with the gas attack in Damascus.”

Piccinin said he has a “moral duty” to share what he heard. He also stressed that he and his fellow hostage were completely cut-off from the outside world and didn’t even know chemical weapons had been used in the first place.

“The government of Bashar al-Assad did not use sarin gas or other types of gas in the outskirts of Damascus,” Piccinin reportedly told Belgium’s RTL radio station.  More

The Syria researcher whose Wall Street Journal op-ed piece was cited by Secretary of State John Kerry and Sen. John McCain during congressional hearings about the use of force has been fired from the Institute for the Study of War for lying about having a Ph.D., the group announced on Wednesday.

“The Institute for the Study of War has learned and confirmed that, contrary to her representations, Ms. Elizabeth O’Bagy does not in fact have a Ph.D. degree from Georgetown University,” the institute said in a statement. “ISW has accordingly terminated Ms. O’Bagy’s employment, effective immediately.”
