Franklin Graham's Samaritan Purse again steps up to the plate to positively impact lives! We're so thankful for Samaritan's Purse’s presence in Alaska, where Franklin has traveled and virtually homesteaded for decades. (He first arrived at age 17 to work blue-collar jobs on our Trans-Alaska Pipeline!) He's so engaged in assisting our wounded warriors, and this unique program he leads with passion and hands-on humbleness is changing our heroes' lives. Franklin knows firsthand a soldier's sacrifice, having a son serving honorably in the U.S. Army, so he brings injured troops and their spouses to a fishing camp in a special, very remote community to enjoy "God's Country" (as Todd calls it; it's his old stomping grounds in the Bristol Bay area), and helps our brave warriors heal in body and soul and relationships. What an awesome team Franklin has assembled to embrace our troops! The entire tiny town of Port Alsworth gathers along their gravel airstrip to welcome the arriving planes carrying our wounded. American flags and children’s handmade posters are proudly waved, serving as a substitute for the traditional Welcome Home ceremonies these young families missed out on, as most of the guys were rushed from war zones to hospitals instead.

With such charitable hearts (and a soft spot for the Last Frontier!), Greta and her husband assisted this worthy cause as she took time away from Fox News to travel across the country to honor our troops. This picture shows the soldiers' plane arriving to the town's enthusiastic greeting, and of course the individual up front -- working non-stop to capture this mission of goodness -- is Greta! I consider her an Alaskan sourdough, proving herself a great fisherman and breakfast cook on this trip. Thank you for your effective efforts, Greta and John, Franklin Graham and Samaritan's Purse, our friends Parnelli Jones and Walker Evans (who traveled far to pay tribute), and all of Port Alsworth! And infinite amounts of thanks go to our troops and their families for serving something greater than self. We love and honor you.

Greta Van Susteren, host of “On the Record” on the Fox News Channel, visits the Operation Heal Our Patriots wilderness retreatSamaritan’s Purse President Franklin Graham welcomed Greta Van Susteren, host of “On the Record” on the Fox News Channel, and her husband, John Coale, this weekend to the Operation Heal Our Patriots wilderness retreat in Port Alsworth, Alaska. Former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin and her husband, Todd, arrived on Sunday to welcome a new group of veterans as well.
Accompanying the Palins were two famous racers: Parnelli Jones, who drove to victory in the 1963 Indianapolis 500, and Walker “the Legend” Evans, an Off-road Motorsports Hall of Famer. Standing with Operation Heal Our Patriots staff and many residents of Port Alsworth, they greeted incoming veterans and their spouses with smiles, cheers, and waving flags.
Operation Heal Our Patriots is a ministry of Samaritan’s Purse to military couples with a spouse wounded or injured in combat or combat-related activities after 9/11.
On Friday Van Susteren and Coale, joined by Graham, enjoyed fishing with veterans off the Jay Hammond, our fully accessible fishing and recreation boat named after the former governor of Alaska. They also celebrated with three military couples who rededicated their marriages before God and the gathered community.
Operation Heal Our Patriots participant and Army veteran Jeremy Barnhart, an accomplished opera singer who committed his life to Christ earlier last week, sang “Amazing Grace” at the ceremony. Barnhart was wounded in a double bomb blast in Baghdad during a deployment to Iraq.
This week marks the 12th of 15 scheduled weeks in Alaska for Operation Heal Our Patriots. The program offers husbands and wives an amazing Sunday-to-Friday experience in a pristine setting alongside other couples facing similar challenges.
Through a variety of outdoor adventures, biblically-based marriage resiliency classes, and daily devotions led by retired military chaplains, couples can make cherished memories together and experience God’s healing love in a unique environment.
Sergeant Tim Bennington, US Army, meets motorsports legends Walker Evans & Parnelli Jones. Tim was injured in Afghanistan in 2011.
Staff Sergeant Eric Myers, US Army, was injured in Iraq in 2012. He is attending Operation Heal Our Patriots with his wife, Laura.

Barack Obama managed to pi$$ off a majority of Egyptians today who want the Muslim Brotherhood out of office.
Reporter Jake Lippincott on the ground in Egypt told Greta Van Susteren that the military junta is using Obama’s remarks today to boost their credibility.
“And, they’re actually using Obama’s criticism and the international community’s criticism as ammunition to boost their nationalist credibility.”
